47% Reduction in Energy Use

The LEED Gold Rhoades Hall at UNC Asheville highlights how a renovated academic space can maximize student outcomes and minimize environmental impacts. With a 47 percent reduction in energy use compared to pre-renovation and a 72 percent reduction in water use compared to the baseline, the state-of-the-art building now has a 10,000 gallon rainwater cistern that collects water for its low-flow toilets and geothermal wells to support heating, cooling, and hot water.
