LouAnn Fornataro, Clark NexsenLouAnn Fornataro was recently awarded Rotarian of the Year 2019 by the Rotary Club of Town Center Virginia Beach board of directors.

Outgoing Club president, Bert Poole, said “LouAnn is one of the most organized people I’ve ever met. She did an amazing job coordinating our weekly speakers and programs for the past year and a half. She instigated a relationship with Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach to partner with us on our annual fundraiser, minted as ‘Charity Spree at the Z.’ Without any prompting or expecting any gratitude, she steps up with ideas, a lot of talent, and generous time and personal financial contributions to help our Club succeed with helping others in need.”

Fornataro is a senior project manager in Clark Nexsen’s Virginia Beach office. Leading teams through multi-million-dollar projects, she says, “I strive to be organized, thorough, and consistent. In addition to being technically competent, being trustworthy and accountable are the most important things I can be for my clients and teammates.”

Rotary International is a service organization whose motto is “Service Above Self.” Usually weekly, more than 35,000 Clubs of business and professional leaders meet to build goodwill and better friendships and to advance Rotary’s causes. Fornataro says, “My professional and personal ethics are a good fit with Rotary. I stepped up to lead specific efforts with the idea that I would bring fresh ideas and a different perspective to our Club’s activities.”  At local, regional, national, and international levels, Rotary works six primary initiatives: promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water and sanitation, save mothers and children, support education and grow local economies.
