As design professionals, it is our social responsibility to advance our communities through innovative, sustainable design.

Independently and in partnership with our clients, we research and craft sustainable solutions that contribute to and protect the economy, the environment, and the human experience. Based on the belief that social responsibility is inherent to design practice, our work must deliver on our vision to advance communities through discovery and design.

Sustainable design presents significant opportunities to support our clients’ business objectives as well as protect our natural resources. By defining sustainability as applicable to society as a whole and not limited to the environment, we partner with our clients to create solutions that address long-term operational goals, support their social responsibility efforts and brand reputation, and protect the health and well-being of their workforce as well as the natural environment.

In the pursuit of excellence in sustainability, we commit to continuously growing our own knowledge through research and education, and challenging ourselves to create better, more efficient designs with each opportunity. Whether or not LEED certification (or another type of third party verification) is pursued, our designers integrate sustainable features and strive to transfer our multidisciplinary expertise to the betterment of each project. Representative of our commitment to hold ourselves accountable to a higher standard of sustainability, we are participating in the AIA’s 2030 Commitment.

Community Involvement

Beyond the ways in which our designs support vibrant, engaged communities, our people are actively involved in supporting the places in which they live, work, and play. Our team members are committed to contributing to the greater good through volunteerism, fundraising, and partnership with organizations including The United Way, American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, and many more at local levels.
• Over last 15 years, we have donated more than $100,000 of food to area food banks through CANstruction participation
• The United Way has awarded Clark Nexsen the Community Impact Award for six consecutive years
• Raised over $120,000 (since 2004) to support Multiple Sclerosis
• Raised over $35,000 since 2008 to support American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
