Virginia Beach, VA
Chris Roberts leads the Virginia Beach bridge inspections department, managing projects for federal, state, and local clients. His clients include Hampton Roads area municipalities, the Virginia Department of Transportation throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the Federal Highway Administration’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division throughout the continental United States. Chris combines an innovative and questioning perspective supported by continuing education and training. He advocates going beyond simply reporting deficiencies during bridge inspections. Digging deeper to understand why problems are occurring leads to detection of related issues and to being better able to correct the problem or prevent it in the future.
Chris is an active speaker in his field, presenting the Lesner Bridge rehabilitation project to the 2014 International Concrete Repair Institute Spring Symposium and discussed the methodology behind bridge safety inspections at the 2011 Virginia Engineers Conference. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology and is the recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award. Chris is a member of American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
