Clark Nexsen Wins Two 2024 AIA North Carolina Design Awards

Clark Nexsen was awarded two 2024 American Institute of Architects (AIA) North Carolina Merit Awards for the Fitts-Woolard Hall at NC State University and its 421 N Harrington Street office upfit. Presented at the annual AIA North Carolina and Design & Chapter Awards event, a jury selected projects by North Carolina architects that exceeded benchmarks for architectural design, structural composition, and application of design theory. 

Fitts-Woolard Hall impressed us with its meticulous detailing and craftsmanship, offering a cohesive and refined experience throughout,” said the jurors, which was composed of some the nation’s most respected architects. “The accessible thoughtfully designed spaces allow people to engage directly with the building’s program from the inviting interiors to the intriguing underside elements.”     

Merit Award – Fitts-Woolard Hall 

Accommodating two engineering departments and a portion of the College of Engineering Dean Administration, Fitts-Woolard Hall at NC State University is a dynamic, state-of-the-art facility promoting collaboration between students, faculty, and individual engineering departments. The design reflects the commitment to “engineering on display” and features a structure testing lab visible from the interior and exterior of the building as well as exposed structural and mechanical building systems. With teaching and research spaces supporting initiatives critical to the global high-tech economy, Fitts-Woolard Hall represents NC State’s commitment to excellence in education and will play a key role in recruiting and producing tomorrow’s industry leaders. 

Merit Award – 421 N Harrington Street 

Clark Nexsen’s 421 N Harrington Street office reflects the firm’s commitment to collaboration, design, access to resources and technology, and employee well-being.
