Mike Putallaz is a Managing Principal for Bridge Engineering and Inspection with over 26 years of experience managing and performing safety inspections, non-destructive evaluations, and load rating analyses of NBIS highway structures throughout the United States for municipal, state, and federal clients. Mike manages the operations of our highly qualified and skilled bridge inspection group in our Roanoke office and continues to develop strategies for growth while also fostering existing client relationships.  He has performed approximately 2,100 bridge, culvert, and tunnel safety inspections and over 200 ancillary highway structure safety inspections. For the past 17 years, he has concurrently performed countless reviews of reports prepared by our inspection teams as well as by our sub-consultants as part of our in-house QA/QC plan to ensure complete, correct, and consistent high-quality reports tailored to and exceeding our client’s specifications and expectations. He has held the primary role as the client manager for federal contracts, including the Federal Highway Administration, and for our local municipal contracts, including the City of Roanoke and the Town of Blacksburg, while also supporting the management of our VDOT contracts. With the future in mind, Mike is also supporting the use of emerging technologies, including the use of mobile software applications and drones, in the field of bridge inspection to further enhance and advance Clark Nexsen’s efforts and capabilities to remain on the cutting edge of the industry. Mike is a proactive mentor to junior team members, providing a patient and constrictive approach that supports growth and development. His leadership and innovative mindset have made him an invaluable member and resource to his colleagues and clients.
