Clark Nexsen Announces Associate Principal Promotions

We are excited to announce the promotion of Margaret Bagdon, Creighton Barnes, Wes Parker, and Mike Putallaz to associate principal. These individuals represent Clark Nexsen at a high level through their commitment to excellence, innovative ideas, and strong relationships with clients and colleagues.


Margaret Bagdon, CPA

Margaret’s dedication, work ethic, and willingness to tackle new challenges has made her a trusted mentor and partner within the firm. As the corporate controller for Clark Nexsen, she manages the corporate accounting group and is responsible for all aspects of accounting for the firm. Margaret has built strong external and internal relationships and has been pivotal to the adoption of new approaches and technologies. She is a member of the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs and is the chair of Clark Nexsen’s 401K Committee, providing guidance and input to the firm as an additional fiduciary of the plan.

Creighton Barnes

As Director of Information Technology, Creighton is a leader in the firm and recognized as a deep problem solver and skilled communicator. He is responsible for leading and managing all IT functions for the firm including network administration and management, business applications, the intranet, and more. He is part of the technology leadership team that includes CNCPT, helping to develop a technology platform strategy for growth and operations and contributing in a significant way to implementing the strategy. Creighton is active with multiple professional organizations, including ACEC, AIA Large Firm Roundtable, the Virginia Beach Central Business District Association, and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.

Wes Parker, PE, PTOE

Wes’ energy, problem solving skills, and can-do attitude have made him a sought-after expert within the firm and throughout the AEC industry. A project development director for the transportation department, he provides senior engineering expertise, manages projects, drives innovation, and is active in business development. His broad range of project design and management experience emphasizes unique solutions for numerous types of transportation, roadway design, trail, ITS, and traffic projects. His recent projects include the 19th Street Corridor improvements and the Wythe Creek Road Widening. Wes is currently the Past President for the Virginia Section Institute of Transportation Engineers, Vice President on the Tidewater Council for the Boy Scouts of America, and a board member for the ABNB Credit Union.

Mike Putallaz, PE

Mike’s leadership and innovative mindset have made him an invaluable member and resource to his colleagues and clients. A senior bridge engineer in the firm’s Roanoke office, he leads inspection teams and is part of the bridge inspection group that develops strategies for growth and operations. Mike is a proactive mentor to junior team members, providing a constructive approach that supports growth and development. He has a primary role as the client manager for the Federal Highway Administration, supports DOT and municipal client management, and has spearheaded exploring how drone technology can benefit Clark Nexsen’s bridge inspection efforts.
