Tabitha Abnet and Creighton Barnes Graduate from LEAD Hampton Roads
Tabitha Abnet, Marketing Manager, and Creighton Barnes, Director of IT, Associate, have graduated from LEAD Hampton Roads Signature Program as part of its Class of 2019. Designed for experienced leaders seeking to expand their circles of influence, LEAD is a nationally recognized leadership development program with a more than 30-year history of success. Each year, the program accepts 50 professionals across Hampton Roads to participate in a year of learning and experiencing the region, networking, group studies, and involvement in the community.
The theme for the 2019 class was ‘Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future,’ where Creighton and Tabitha had the opportunity to explore what is valuable to the Southeast Virginia region, as well as how to build on it for the demands of the future. Some highlights from the year include Creighton and his team kickstarting a STEM Camp, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula and in association with Dan Cary of the REACH Foundation. The camp is set to be hosted by NSU, where kids will learn with professors and participate in STEM and athletic activities, mixing STEM with sports and leadership. Additionally, Tabitha and her team pushed forward an awareness initiative for the LEAD program by landing ad space and a full page spread in Coastal Virginia Magazine.
