The Maritime Museum Education Center (MEC) will be an 8,700 sf cornerstone facility that anchors the transformation of 11 acres dedicated to celebrating maritime heritage.

Strategically positioned north of the Beaufort Highrise Bridge and Highway 70, the site enjoys a distinctive waterfront location. The Turner Street Road Bridge provides direct connectivity to the Town of Beaufort, ensuring convenient access for residents and visitors alike.

Current construction encompasses not only the Center itself but also establishes the essential infrastructure framework—including comprehensive utility systems—that will support the future 80,000 sf maritime museum. The design thoughtfully incorporates space for a planned performance venue where music will eventually enhance the harbor experience.

Visitors will benefit from dramatically improved access through carefully planned pedestrian pathways and vehicle circulation systems, creating an inviting gateway to maritime discovery and education.
