Dan Walker Appointed to Advisory Board of Volunteer Law Enforcement Officer Alliance

Public safety design expert, Dan Walker

Dan Walker, AIA, DBIA, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Volunteer Law Enforcement Officer Alliance (VLEOA), a nonprofit organization that provides training and support to reserve and auxiliary law enforcement officers worldwide. As a member of the Advisory Board, Dan will provide leadership and strategic guidance to the Alliance as they promote awareness of the role of volunteer law enforcement and assist in the formation, expansion, and training of volunteer law enforcement units.

Dan’s personal experience as an auxiliary law enforcement officer and his many years of public safety facility design experience support him in this role. His passion for public safety began early – participating in the Portsmouth Police Department’s Civilian Ride-Along Program during high school and college. After earning his Bachelor of Architecture from Hampton University, Dan was accepted as a member of the Portsmouth Auxiliary Police Unit and served in a variety of roles and levels of responsibility. He was honored as Auxiliary Officer of the Year three times before retiring as a lieutenant after nearly 30 years of volunteer service.
