Sentara aims to be one of the most progressive and integrated healthcare organizations in the nation. Part of this integrated approach focuses on wellness and activity as an important component of long-term patient health. The combined wellness center and medical office building is representative of this dual emphasis.

Home to a hospital-based physical therapy and rehabilitation program as well as a specialty physician practice serving bariatrics patients, this healthcare facility encompasses three stories and more than 72,000 square feet. Sentara Health Systems, the anchor tenant, worked with the Clark Nexsen design team to develop a 35,000 square foot wellness and fitness center, featuring elements including a large gym area ringed with a walking track.

The facility also houses two pools – one for therapy and one five-lane pool for exercise. Several exercise studios are included adjacent to the gym area to provide classroom space for wellness and fitness classes. Other amenities at the facility include conference meeting rooms, accessible from the main lobby to support after-hours access, as well as a covered drop-off canopy and vestibule at the primary entry.
