Highrise Standpipe Design: A Case History
Rick Alpert recently published an article in the July/August edition of Sprinkler Age magazine. Sprinkler Age is the membership publication of the American Fire Sprinkler Association. The article is a follow-up to a previous article Rick authored on standpipe systems for the magazine. He provides a case history perspective on highrise standpipe design based on the River Tower at Harbor’s Edge project which is currently under construction in downtown Norfolk.
He discusses the following issues:
The type of standpipe system required
Where the required hose outlets are located
The required flow rate of the system
The required pressure at the hose outlet/s
The requirements for the fire department connection
